  • CLUB STANDARD MEDAL RULES :
Any member reaching a particular standard of performance at any distance may only receive one medal from the club in acknowledgement of the performance. If the same member repeats the feat, it will not qualify for further award in the current or any other season.
  • For the sake of medal engraving, when a rider achieves the same standard several times in a season, his/her fastest time will be recorded on the medal.

Veteran Time Trials Association (VTTA) Standard Medals

To qualify for these you need to join the V.T.T.A.
DETAILS ARE GIVEN BELOW ABOUT JOINING THE VTTA
& AN EXPLANATION OF HOW THE VET STANDARDS ARE CALCULATED

CALCULATION OF STANDARDS
A standard time is set by the VTTA for each distance at 10,25,30,50,100,12hr for every age
(Full table is available).

When you beat the standard time you receive a “plus time” for your age.
Your best "plus" for the season is your vet standard for that year.

After you have set your standard in the first year, you have to improve your "plus" the following year (& subsequent years) to qualify for a Vet Standard medal award.

A worked example is shown below for a 25 standard
Year 1
Age 40 Standard is 1-6-00. Your time 1-3-30 gives a Vets Plus +2-30 Therefore a plus Standard is achieved & you qualify for medal award
Year 2
Age 41 Standard 1-6-40. Your time 1-3-45 gives a Vets Plus +2-55
Your plus has improved, therefore Standard is achieved again, & you qualify for medal award
Year 3
Age 42 Standard 1-7-20. Your time 1-4-30 gives a Vets Plus +2-50
Failed to improve your plus Standard, therefore no medal award is due

For each year that you improve your standard you can claim a Vet Standard medal from the VTTA for each distance.
If you achieve standard at 4 distances or more in the year, you can opt to receive a plaque if you wish rather than 4 medals.

JOINING VTTA
You join the VTTA by joining one of the local VTTA groups.
Locally this can be either Manchester, Merseyside or North Lancs group.
Membership fee is determined by the group (about £10 per year).
For membership to Merseyside Vets you need to contact Phil Guy (01939 210569).
If you wish to “go for” your standards you need to pay a further fee of £10.00 which covers all distances.
You must join & pay the standard fee before your ride.

Also : Each group also has its own championships, BAR, various trophies & annual dinner.
You receive a National Vets Magazine each quarter.
You receive a periodic group NewsLetter
