Bill, tells the story behind the picture

"I believe there are two photo's of Tony and myself in the Westwood R.C.Tandem "30". One taken the first time we rode the event on the 6th October 1962. Our time was 1hr 10m 56s. We finished 6th. The other was taken the year after. We also rode it in 1964 but punctured. The tandem itself was interesting. The frame was loaned to us by Alan Barker. It was pre war and Alan said that it had been ridden by Reg Harris and Alan Bannister in an event on Crewe track before the war. There is a picture at Manchester Velodrome of Alan Bannister and another rider on a tandem and I would not be surprised if it was the same one.The event started just by the Foresters pub near the Greyhound and used the East Lancs road."

Early 70's pic of Paul Wildsmith (East Bradford CC), passing the finish line & timekeeper Ron Macqueen, to win the Club's Open Hill Climb at Frodsham.
Paul won the National Hill Climb title in 1967 & was 5 times winner of our open event from 1972-76.
